Great for all year round sun care: Coppertone Oil Free Sunblock

I use sunscreen all year not just during the summer and one of my favorites is Coppertone Oil free Sunblock Lotion with SPF 45 ($9.99, drugstores). According to the package, the benefits of using this product are:

* Oil-free and non-greasy so it feels fresh and clean
* Non-comedogenic so it won't clog pores or promote breakouts
* Waterproof for up to 80 minutes
* Effective in blocking damaging UVA and UVB rays
* Hypoallergenic and PABA-free
* Fragrance-free

I like it because it's not to oily and doesn't make my face look shiny or irritate it.

My Fall Beauty Wish List: Shampoo, Conditioner and Face Mask

I don't really need to buy a lot of products but a few that have been on my Fall Wish List are:

Shampoo and Conditioner
The fall and winter can be quite harsh on my naturally dry hair. I want to try Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner ($18 and $22, sephora.com). It's for hair that is damaged, dry, dull or chemically treated.

Face Mask
I want to try a different face mask to kind of renew my skin from all the summer fun. A mask that is on my Fall Wish List is Apivita Aqua Plus Face Mask with Cucumber ($24.00, bathandbodyworks.com). This mask is suppose to invigorate and moisturize your skin.

Travel Products that will make you Bloom

I found Bloom Cosmetics one day while I was searching for travel beauty products. I decided to buy the Bloom Body Care Pamper Pack ($12.00, parkleigh.com) to give it a try. Each pack contains 2 sachets of each product:

Body Cleanser: Lavender and Grapefruit
Body Scrub: Citrus Blend, Peppermint and Pettigrain
Body Cream: Mandarin, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang

I like the scent of each product and they have a cute illustration on each pack. Each product was easy to use and there was a pretty good amount in each packet.

Stress Relief Cream

Who doesn't feel a little stressed especially now a days with everyone zipping around, multi-tasking, etc. I started using Earth Therapeutics Anti-Stress Mind Repair Pulse Point Cream ($7.99 for 1.35 fl. oz, earththerapeutics.net) to relieve any tension or stress from the day.
You can smell the peppermint as you massage it into your skin.
Directions say to: Inhale deeply and massage a dab into temples, neck, forehead and earlobes for instant relief.
I don't use it that often mainly because I try to do yoga and meditation.
It's good to use at night when you can't quite sleep because of stress.

Product Feature: Body Scrub

I recently received a sample gift bag from Maryam's Soap Nook that contained a few products. All the products are natural and hand made.

I wanted to review the products one at a time. The first product I tried was the Shea Butter and Dead Sea Salt Glow Scrub ($15 for 8 oz jar or $25 for 16 oz jar, maryam-soap-nook.com).

It's moisturizing and thick. I like this scrub because even though it's packed in oil it didn't leave my skin feeling super slick. It left the right amount of oil. You don't need to use a lot of this for it to work. It has a pleasant scent but not overpowering and it does not linger. However, those who are use to fancy packaging might not like the way it's packaged. For me it doesn't matter because I don't buy beauty products for the bottle or box. I buy it for the results.

Would I purchase this product? Yes, because it really does work. It's good quality and different plus I like to show support for small businesses. My skin is normally dry and this made it soft and smooth.

If you prefer a different scents, she also has 15 other Glow Scrubs to choose from. As with any new product check to make sure there are no skin irritations, even though this is a natural and hand made product it's always best to check.

Totally Apple-licious Body Scrub

A body scrub I like to use from time to time is Freeman Totally Juicy Apple Hot Sugar Body Scrub ($3.79, drugstore.com).

It has an amazing scent and the self heating scrub warms up to clear away the dead skin cells.

Some people say that is doesn't heat up enough for them but you have to try it for yourself. For me I don't need it become really hot because that's what the shower or bath is for.

Note: Use on dry skin for full effect of the scrub.

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day on Saturday!!!

I haven't received a reader's product review in quite a while. Feel free to e-mail me yours.

Cherry2Berry36 uses Mudd Facial Masque ($5.00, drugstores) once a month in the winter and twice a month during the summer.
She says "it's the best because I have used other masks but Mudd is the best." Cherry also uses it on other body parts to keep all of her skin pimple free.
Is there a Frugal Glam Product that you would to share please send me an e-mail: frugalglam@yahoo.com with the product name, price (or average price) and what you think of the product.

Deep Cleaning Facial Mask

A month ago, I mentioned to a friend over the phone, whose lives in TX, that I've been looking for a new facial mask to try and she recommended Farmaesthetics Rosehip & Clay Mint Mask (4 oz. for $19.00, farmaesthetics.com).
It contains organically grown peppermint leaves & rosehips which are suppose to remove oil and bring down skin inflammation. I found it easy to use and I saved money because I mixed only the amount that was needed with water (use filtered or bottle water for best results) to create a paste.
From directions: Let dry to tingling then remove with water.

Products I use from Clinique

Lately, I have been obsessed with getting the perfect Bridget Bardot eye look. I bought Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black ($14.50, Clinique). It's small and a little expensive (I just adjusted my beauty budget) but I heard such good things about it. It's very easy to use and goes on effortless. I felt like a movie star because the liner look really great.

Another Clinique product that I buy seasonally is Clinique Clarifying Lotion (6.7 oz for $11.00, Clinique). I only buy this during the summer because I like to use a creamy exfoliate during the winter.
Also, the price is rather high but it does really work so I just limit my use to the summer. It's so easy to use and all you have to do is pour a little on a cotton ball and you will see dead skin cells wiped off.

Q and A

I normally don't post on Saturday but I have two questions I received, that I wanted to answer:

Q: Don't you ever get tired of trying new products?

A: No, I absolutely love it. It's so much fun to try out different products. Maybe one day I will get to the point of product fatigue, but I hope I don't.

Q: I normally have clear skin but I get those "period pimples" what can you suggest that doesn't cost alot?

A: Luckly, I've have been blessed (thanks mom and dad) with clear skin (it's oily, but I rarely if ever get a pimple). But, when I do feel one starting to form, I like to use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil ($7.50, The Body Shop stores). It's one of my tried and true beauty products. It's a small bottle, but you don't need to use a lot for it to work. It has a natural scent kind of woodsy smell, but the scent does not linger.

After, washing your face dab a little of this on the area, wait a few seconds then apply your facial moisturizer. I hope it works. There are other uses for this product but I just use it for the pimples.

Great for Sensitive skin

This might be a little pricey for some but it's really worth it. I like to use Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream ($10.59 for 16 oz, drugstores) only during the winter because my skin is sensitive and sometimes need a little help.

I use this only on my body (I have oily facial skin) but it can be used for your face. I would still suggest doing a patch test first to make sure there is no irritation.

It's hypoallergenic, frangrance free and best of all will not leave your skin feeling greasy or sticky.

I would also suggest using just a little bit at a time because you don't need a lot for it to work unless you have really dry skin.

I would probably advise not using if you have oily facial skin because it is a little heavier than a normal facial cream.

Oily Skin Solution

I have a friend who sells Avon part-time and she gave me a sample of Avon True Pore-Fection Skin Refining Mask (Sale: $5.99, Regular: $8.50 avon.com).

This is a great product for those of us who have oily skin for three reasons:

1) It reduced the appearance of my pores

2) Absorbed the oil (without drying out my skin)

3) Left my skin with a matte finish.

Bonus: Leaves skin shine free for up to 8 hours.

I would use this mask once every week or every two weeks to keep my skin in good condition.

Who knew Bees could be so helpful?

During the fall and winter, the indoor heating system seems to dry out my normally oily skin throught out the day.

Since, I don't want to lug around a bottle of moisturizer in my purse. I carry Burt's Bees Lavender Complexion Mist for normal skin ($9.50, burtsbees.com) with me instead.

It's small, only 4 oz., but it's not a replacement for your facial moisturizer. You're just suppose to use it to refresh your skin when it's starting to look a little out of character.

It contains the essential oils: cedar leaf, bergamot orange and lavender, which are used to hydrate, nourish and moisturize the skin.

The complexion mist is available in three other formulas: Carrot Seed Oil (for mature skin), Grapefruit (for oily skin) and Cucumber Chamomile (for sensitive skin).

Stay Smooth All Year Long

Removing unwanted hair is never a topic that women want to discuss. So, I will make this short.

I started using Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel ($3.99, drugstores) last summer because I heard great reviews about how it's suppose to help you shave less often.

I decided to give it a try and I noticed that my hair grew back slower, keeping my legs smooth longer. A plus for this shaving gel is it helps to prevent nicks, cuts, and ingrown hairs.

What makes this product work is the active ingredients: soy, soy extracts and skin conditioners.

Some users may or may not like the fragrance but you have to try it for yourself to see.

Stay Shine Free

Even though the weather is starting to become cooler I still have to deal with my oily skin. To fix my skin during the day, I use Boscia Fresh Blotting Linens ($10, sephora.com). It's one of my little secrets to staying shine free throughout the day.

I like it because, it absorbs the oil from my face without leaving my skin dry or taking off my make-up. I use the orignal but Boscia Fresh Blotting Linens are available in Green Tea and Lavender.

This is a great Frugal Glam product because you get 100 sheets for $10.

The Original Pore Strip

One of the best Frugal Glam products I have been using for a few years is Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips ($6.99, drugstores). I like the fact that you can see the results immediately.

When the other companies came out with similar products, I decided to give them a try. However, they just did not seem to work as well as the Biore pore strips.

Celebrity Frugal Glam Product:
According to Ladies Home Journal, Demi Moore uses Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask ($20, origins.com)
