Bonne Bell Glimmer Bronzer

Even though it's not exactly summer yet, I still like to find summer like products.
I bought Bonne Bell Glimmer Bronze Highlighting Dust in Gold'n Glitz ($3.95, drugstores) for a little subtle glow to my face.
I was a little surprised because I was expecting it to look a little funny on my face but it just seemed to blend in.
I just wanted buy something a little fun and the price isn't to bad. Test it to make sure it goes with your complexion.
Just use only a little bit for a subtle glow and use a blush or an oversize brush for more control and to get a light coverage.

Money Saving Tips

I thought I would give a few money saving tips:

1. Before you buy something ask yourself "Do I really need this?" If not then put it back.
2. Use Excel to create an easy budget.
3. Just like dieting. Don't deprive yourself, everything in moderation. So not to overspend.
4. If you can't afford a new outfit then find affordable accessories to make an old outfit feel new.
5. Don't buy something on sale that you would never pay full price for.
6. Don't feel pressured by a sales person to buy something. It's your money.
7. This is for parents, Learn how to say NO.

Do you have any money tips? Please, let us know what you do to save money.

Two Great Finds from Arden B.

Despite the sporadic weather, summer is coming so I decided to buy a new pair of sunglasses.

I bought these Arden B. Two-Tone Square Sunglasses on sale for $29.99 (regular price $58.00). I like the total eye coverage that I get.

My other purchase from Arden B. was a Waffle Jacquard Pencil Skirt in black for $39.99 (regular price $78.00).

Exfoliating Body Wash

The product I am reviewing is the 2nd product I tried from Maryam's Soap Nook.
The Exfoliating Body Wash with Jojoba Beads and Kukui Nut Oil ($10.00 for 8 oz., maryam-soap-nook.com).
The body wash lathered easily and didn't leave any residue on my skin. I could feel the little beads go over my skin but they were not hard or scratchy. After washing, my skin felt really soft and smooth.
There was no overpowering fragrance. The scent I received was Provence which was very light and airy. There are 18 additional scents available if Provence is not your cup of tea.
I also like to use it on my hands instead of my traditional hand soap because it makes my hands feel smooth and makes the hand lotion absorb right into my skin.

Terri uses Ambi Even & Clear Exfoliating Wash (5.99, drugstores) because it's gentle on her sensitive skin. It also gives her an clear and even skin tone. The best thing is, it's created for the specific needs of people of color.

If you have Frugal Glam product you would like to share please e-mail me at: frugalglam@yahoo.com. Send me the product name, price, where you can purchase it and why it works for you.

Again, Enjoy the Weekend!!

Money Saving Tip: Create a Weekend Fund

I like to do things on the weekend instead of just sitting at home but sometimes the budget doesn't always agree with that. So, for the past few years, I have been putting money aside just for the weekend.

It gives me the freedom of extra money for the weekend without tapping into my savings or having to use any credit cards. You can start small by just putting $2, $5 or $10 a week aside, but for those with a larger income can put more aside per week.

This also works for those getting allowance from mom and dad.

Supermoisturizing Lip Balm

Lately, I have been a little busy because I'm trying to find a new MKTG/PR position in NYC. Hopefully, I can find a position that will let me work with different clients from Beauty to non-profit.
Anyway....
Are you looking for a supermoisturizing lip balm, then try Apivita Propoline Lip Aid ($7.00, beautyexclusive.com).
I am using the cocoa butter & olive oil (blue tube), it made my lips feel very soft and moist. The container might not look glamorous but the bright colorful tubes are very fun and cute.
Maybe I'll hold off on buying more lip balm at least for a little while.

Instant Manicure in a Bottle

I don't always have time to give myself a manicure or to get one. However, while walking through the make-up aisle in Walgreen I lucked apon Sally Hansen Natural Shine Instant Nail Finish ($5.99, drugstores).

It comes in two tints: clear and pink. I bought both to try at home. It's easy to use and dries quickly with a nice shine to it.

It's small which means you can tote it around in your bag.

This will not take the place of a manicure (at least for me), but it's great for when you want your nails to look great but don't have time for that full on manicure.

New Make-up Brand featured at Target

I was at Target on Tuesday and noticed a new make-up line called Boots No. 7. Being the lip gloss addict that I am I purchased the Stay Perfect Lip Laquer in Maple ($10.99, Target).

I was a little skeptical because it was a new brand but I thought I would give it a chance.

Boots is a popular brand in the UK, maybe it will become as popular here in the US.

Anyway, I applied the color and let it set for a minute then I applied the shine. Even though this is a color stay lip gloss I didn't find it to be too drying. The color looked very pretty. Maybe I will take this with me to fundraiser because it stayed on without drying out my lips.

Spa Night

I think tonight will be one of those nights where you just want to stay in and relax. Maybe I'll give myself a little spa night with (mani-pedi, face mask, etc). Plus this will give me a chance to try out some of the new products I just bought.

Maybe watch a little TV or I'll start reading my new book Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella.

Perfect for a Black Tie Event or that Special Date

I am looking forward to the weekend. I volunteered to help my friend with a charity fundraising event. I am happy that I will have a couple of days to relax and also helping to raise money for a non-profit organization.

It's a black tie event. So, I had been searching around trying to find a great little black dress. I ordered this dress from J-Crew for $79.99 (original price: $125.00). I thought this dress would be perfect for the event.
In college, I spent twice that amount on just a formal dress for sorority formals and I would only wear the dress once. I would buy a new dress for each function, I never like wearing a dress more than once.
Anyway, I think this dress is classy, professional and just a touch of sexy (without being overt).

Lip Parfait is Better Than Eating Candy

I love cotton candy but I don't want to eat it all the time. I saw this Laura Geller Lip Parfait Lip Gloss ($14.00, Sephora) and couldn't resist.
I bought two: Gramercy Park and Hazelnut. Gramercy Park is a pretty pink gloss and has slight shimmer to it. The Hazelnut is a pinkish brown and also has a slight shimmer.
The consistency is a little thicker than a regular lip gloss. It goes on smooth and It's quite moisturizing. It smells sweet just like candy and it's not sticky.
This is my new favorite lip gloss for now. In a week I'll probably love a new product.
If you are already using this let us know why you like it or don't like it.

Sexy Wrap Top from New York & Co.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.
Friday I went to the mall with a friend and we stopped in New York & Co. I found a few items, one was this wrap top for $29.95. This top will look great for casual, work or evening events.
I like to buy clothes that I can get multiple use out of. Don't want to waste money on something I'm only going to wear once. It was also nice to just hang out and relax. I don't normally have time to do that.

A Sleek and Modern Wastebasket

I love The Container Store but there's not one near me so I have to order stuff online.
I recently ordered this Silver Umbra wastebasket ($14.99, containerstore.com). I really like the pink interior and the fact that it's plastic so it's not too heavy.

Lipstick: Good Staying Power but Too Drying

I usually am pretty fond of Max Factor products but I was not really pleased with the Max Factor Lipfinity Lipstick ($8.99, drugstores).

The color looked pretty in the package, so I thought I would give it a try. I followed the two step directions to apply a thin coat of color and let it dry completely before going on to the second step. After it dried I applied the topcoat which is suppose to add moisture and shine to your lips.

The color looked pretty on but my lips felt so dry. Throughout the day as instructed I kept applying the topcoat to keep my lips moist but that didn't really work. It was a good thing I was at home instead of out because I would of been so embarrassed about my dry lips which are never dry.

I had to go to the bathroom and take it off because I just could not take the feel of the dryness anymore. However, one good thing about this product is it really does stay put.

Even though this product did not work for me doesn't mean that it didn't work for you. Remember these are my opinions on products I just want to give my honest opinion and I would love to read yours.

Product Feature: Body Scrub

I recently received a sample gift bag from Maryam's Soap Nook that contained a few products. All the products are natural and hand made.

I wanted to review the products one at a time. The first product I tried was the Shea Butter and Dead Sea Salt Glow Scrub ($15 for 8 oz jar or $25 for 16 oz jar, maryam-soap-nook.com).

It's moisturizing and thick. I like this scrub because even though it's packed in oil it didn't leave my skin feeling super slick. It left the right amount of oil. You don't need to use a lot of this for it to work. It has a pleasant scent but not overpowering and it does not linger. However, those who are use to fancy packaging might not like the way it's packaged. For me it doesn't matter because I don't buy beauty products for the bottle or box. I buy it for the results.

Would I purchase this product? Yes, because it really does work. It's good quality and different plus I like to show support for small businesses. My skin is normally dry and this made it soft and smooth.

If you prefer a different scents, she also has 15 other Glow Scrubs to choose from. As with any new product check to make sure there are no skin irritations, even though this is a natural and hand made product it's always best to check.

Organic Lip Balm

I know, I know I'm a lip balm addict and when I hear of good one to try. I like to see how good it is.

I heard about Dr. Bronner's Lemon Lime Lip Balm ($2.50, amazon.com) from the organic store my aunt goes to. It goes on smooth without any waxy after feel. It also has a nice citrus taste to it but not overpowering at least to me.
